Audits

Plan and run internal audits, record what you find, and drive every issue through to closure.

Internal audits are how you check your management system is working before your certification body does. PilotVantage helps you scope an audit, capture findings, and turn those findings into tracked corrective actions — with a clean PDF report at the end.

How to run an audit

1

Create the audit

Give it a title, define the scope, set a planned start date, and name a lead auditor.

2

Record findings

As you audit, log each finding with a severity and reference, and describe the nonconformity or observation.

3

Raise corrective actions

Turn findings into actions you can assign, track and close.

4

Attach evidence

Link evidence to the audit and to individual findings to support your conclusions.

5

Export the report

Generate an audit report as a PDF to hand to your certification body.

Findings

A finding is anything you spot during the audit. Each one carries a severity and a reference, plus a description of the nonconformity or observation. Findings are the engine of the audit: they drive the corrective actions you track to closure, so nothing you discover is ever lost.

Close the loop
Every finding should end in a resolved action. Leaving findings open is the most common thing certification bodies pull you up on.

From findings to closure

Once you raise actions from your findings, you manage them through to completion in the Actions module. When every action tied to an audit is closed, you have a demonstrable, end-to-end record of the audit and its outcomes.

Test your controls
Audits are a natural place to check that your controls are operating as recorded — and to update their status if they aren't.
